maybe and then perhaps not do I believe
all in all magic probably needs an a & l to make it real
god is the likeliest source - wholly on a high
inverse of course summons something terribly black
conjuring the uncanny with decapitated hens
against such shadows there are spellbinding scenes
longlasting enough for love to alight
Coming up with an acrostic after Franks prompt this week and written for Paul’s Poetics: Magic
Acrostical magic. Clever.
It’s all in the spell-ing!
Nice acrostic! Hopefully there is a place for love to alight after the black conjuring.
We have to spread a whole lot of it to banish dark forces
Wonderful acrostic but the last line…oh my. I hope there will be more than enough Love to shed light on everyone of us. Beautiful.
I hope so – with your magic poem you at least know of that you speak!
Great acrostic. I love your opening line, particularly.
Reassuring Sarah as was unsure as to how it came across
Oooo, Laura, the light and the dark of magic together. Love it!
Can’t have one without the other – thank you Sarah
Awesome acrostic, Laura. 🙂
thanks for adding some alliteration here too
Nice piece. i liked the idea is doing it as an acrostic.
Darkness crossed by love crossed by faith
followed by God.
Good themes.
Randy
Thank you – rarely write acrostics but this one emerged as if by magic!
I need to think on this one a little, Laura. So much deep meaning there. The photography complements the word play.
a good comment Beth – thank you. The opening line sets the ambivalence as magic has a dark side but as adjective it goes along with all the mystical magical occasions including falling in love ❤
nice use of form, may the light guide through the darkness.
heaven knows we need it – thank you Trudessa
Ah, how I love that closing line!
no wonder Sherry – lots of love and light in your poems
Love is a great source of light… but it can also be something we snuff out too easily
sometimes perhaps we love in the shadows?!
A fabulous combination, Laura!
the acrostic led the way Kim -must try them more often
God is indeed the source.
The light of the world
against such shadows, there are spellbinding scenes
long-lasting enough for love to alight
Like it when it can end up for 2 hearts to be together
Hank
Happy ending Hank
This is incredibly penned! 😀
Thank you Sanaa
Clever, I like this sort of challenge one sets our selves when writing.
DVerse do do some challenging prompts!
Oh dear, those poor hens! Great poem, reminder to me that there is no shadow so dark that light cannot touch it ❤
I like that!
Love the twistiness of this as you go through several connected thoughts before arriving at an uplifting conclusion. Nice!
Thank you – it was rather a relief to end up there
How very well done Laura! Magical indeed
thank you – as is your photography!
“I go tip-toeing around nostalgia”
Luv this line. Thanks for dropping by my Sunday Standard today Laura
Much 😍 love
somehow your comment slipped down a poem but thank you!
I like to think of magical as good – but yes, it can be so very dark too….
never one without the other – yin-yang!
