The last day of September and we stood and watched the gulls over the bay – resting on the balustrade. The afternoon was warm and there was a sense of triumph in the length of the walk and the places of childhood revisited, memories freshened and rewritten.
How would it have been, if we had known then, that there was just one week left for us to be together?
