When the tide recedes and the estuary empties there is nothing much to see…or rather nothing much to distract from the patterns left in the mudflats. These ripple formations make interesting studies for geologists and physicists, as well as being an endless fascination for me and my camera.

the light was certainly silver gelatin! we who aspire must look into Adams’ photographs as well as listen to the words he left behind: “It is increasingly clear to me that my art relates more and more to a sublimation of my closeness to the natural world, it’s events, light itself, and the positive”
