When the tide recedes and the estuary empties there is nothing much to see…or rather nothing much to distract from the patterns left in the mudflats. These ripple formations make interesting studies for geologists and physicists, as well as being an endless fascination for me and my camera.

Like you I love the light and textures of mud flats, though they often have me thinking of chocolate cake mix.
ah yes so that is the appeal – subliminal! The light, this day, was brilliant – warm enough too to have melted the chocolate
Photos are poetical, Laura.
you could not have said a better thing to me, Amy – many thanks
Ansel Adams – esque. They should be done in silver gelatin. Great!
the light was certainly silver gelatin! we who aspire must look into Adams’ photographs as well as listen to the words he left behind: “It is increasingly clear to me that my art relates more and more to a sublimation of my closeness to the natural world, it’s events, light itself, and the positive”
The positive… needful thing, in more than one respect. Working on that. Working on that….
Beautiful line that leads me to the clouds!
good place to be – where I go to meditate
