I’ve just returned after a re-visit to Ramsgate on the Kent coast though this late September was mostly wet and windy – the complete opposite of 2018. Such weather is not ideal for photos unless one comes fully equipped with camera protectors and some form of stabilisation. I found it hard to stand up to the wind at times!
“There’s a harbour full of all kinds of ships, closed in by stone jetties running into the sea on which one can walk. And further out one sees the sea in its natural state, and that’s beautiful.” Vincent Van Gogh – 1876

You got some good images despite the weather. Though it does look rather chilly!

I had enough layers to keep out the cold and so could enjoy the great outdoors here – would have preferred better weather only for the sake of photos

My camera is not weatherproof so no good on damp days. I am a fair weather photographer!

me too mostly as kept having to stick the camera under my waterproofs – can’t afford for it to rust!

Beautiful spot well-captured Laura – I can see the parallels to my Scotland image. Loved the lighthouse tower but my favorite was your instagram image

Rugged weather maybe, but beautiful shots! Such weather makes for splendid skies and layers of clothes.

thank you Leya – often had to wrap the camera up as well with the sudden squalls but manged these few shots in between

And you managed it beautifully. My camera is not weather proof either. Double the price …

Excellent. Love the rock pool. And Van Gogh.

all this coast has excellent light – hence Turner at Margate – so Van Gogh must have enjoyed Ramsgate for that too as well as the scenes
