Old meets New

A trio of 1865 gasholder frames (dubbed the Siamese triplets) converted to modern luxurious flats and besides them the “Victorian heritage and the contemporary architecture collision” of Coal Drops Yard food outlet, Kings Cross. A far cry from the days when living besides the gasworks was the cheapest and least desirable place to live.

    1. at one level I admire the architectural changes but always there is the nagging feeling that gentrification is somewhat castrating for an area, not dissimilar to regime change!

  1. King’s Cross has certainly changed a lot since I was last there. I bet those gasometer flats don’t come cheap!

    1. in many ways I like the makeover as so much to see and do and the canal walks add to the whole sense of connection – – but the old and dingy housing replaced by modern and unaffordable living for most!
