New Year’s day and the over publicised ‘beast from the east’ just brought crisp blue skies to Yorkshire and the canalised river Don – in Yorkshire. No doubt it is much more cold and beastly along the novel’s titular Don that flows south of Moscow to the Black Sea. [I read this epic many years ago on warm bus journeys going to Birmingham but that is another story]
Meanwhile I am back in London and bringing good wishes for the New Year.
That weather has landed in Greece with snow.
Indeed and most of Europe under heavy snow – in the UK we have the Gulf Stream that keeps the worst at bay most times
