I HEARD the old, old men say,
The Old Men Admiring Themselves In The Water ~ William Butler Yeats
‘Everything alters,
And one by one we drop away.’
They had hands like claws, and their knees
Were twisted like the old thorn-trees
By the waters.
I heard the old, old men say,
‘All that’s beautiful drifts away
Like the waters.’
The day was overcast and I dug out my old Ricoh CX3 from the drawer. This knocked-about knock-around point-and-shoot tends to lag a little now after the press of the switch and with less than bright light, gives grainy slightly blurry images. Nevertheless on seeing these ripples in the duck pond, I was mesmerised and the camera seems to have come up with some painterly impressions. Things are not always seen best with full clarity!
