I’ve a soft spot for,
a phrase we tend to whisper,

would call, with a shudder, slush.
Sunday sayings: Extract from Jason Guriels’s poem ‘Soft Spots’ from which the title is taken, to accompany this ageing hydrangea bloom because such wabi sabi imperfection is something I have a soft spot for

Everyone does flowers at their most ripe, pretty-in-bloom, but takes another eye to appreciate them with some history showing its face. Poor old word, but it still applies – lovely.
thank you Neil for seeing loveliness even here. When history showed up in my face I was compelled to appreciate decay!
It’s a beautiful soft spot you have. 👏🏽
many thanks Selma – have learnt much from the Japanese view
I love the stages of plants and flowers, the whole gamut of spring to autumn is so rich in change and perspective. So loved this Laura.
bravo! You are a man for all seasons Paul!
Beautiful words for this process of fading in the garden
