It was the foulest of late afternoons in the penultimate December day of 2023- gusting winds and rain so that a postprandial walk along the river Exe in Devon, was necessarily cut short. The photographer too only had time for quick captures and it’s never easy getting the light/dark balance when shooting through bridges, tunnels etc.
Anyway 2024 is the year I intend to study more about B&W photography and to that end have purchased Duckett’s ’52 Assignments’ book which has camera advice alongside each project. Shooting in B&W jpeg alongside Raw files will enable me to more or less gauge the end result.
One for Monochrome Monday (though technically B&W should be termed grayscale)

Intriguing project!
its one way too of learning as I’m not very good at reading the manual or absorbing technical advice
I just love the mood of this photo.
another good reason for B&W – thank you Paul
Considering that I am already much pleased, impressed, inspired by your B&W photography, this coming year invites much promise. I trust your photographic eye.
I hope that some of that promise can be fulfilled Neil – many thanks
Looking forward to seeing the results of your project Laura!
thank you for your optimism John
There is so much to like in this composition. The graffiti, the leading lines and the silhouetted figures. Can’t wait to see what else you find this year.
I very much appreciate seeing how others see things so thank you Jude
I really like the contrast of the chaotic energy of the graffiti with the simplicity of the rest of the forms. (K)
very nice observations as usual Kerfe ❤
