Cold and overcast at the David Austin centre for a cream tea treat and the present of a rose from my daughter. This was one day I did not wear my wellies – nor did this gardener it seems!

Is this the place in Albrighton? A beautiful garden when the roses are blooming. (It is Austin not Austen btw) I have had a couple of lovely visits there – came away with a Marmalade Heuchera which is still going after 10 years! What rose did you receive then? And yes, you have to wonder where the gardener has been transported to…
Yes Albrighton on a less than bright day hence the photo is a little dull!
Looks similar to Gertrude Jekyll, good that it flowers for a long time, has an old rose smell and most importantly doesn’t ball in rain!
Yes not as popular as GJ judging by the amounts for sale plus GJ likes 🌞
A wonderful image and an untold story (or perhaps a poetry prompt). I always love the incongruous object left behind.
there does seem to be a story here, even a poetic one (you are better at this than me) or was it something more prosaic – goes to show how we interpret according to our particular perspectives on the world
There’s a lovely sketch painting by an artist named Wyeth. A landscape. I fallen tree in the foreground. A man’s prosthetic hook on the tree. The artist named the piece, “Left Hook.” Such a beautifully rendered painting. Such a disarming pun (pun intended)!
what a pun! I only know him from “Christina’s world” –
His most popular, but arguably not his best work. Three famous painters in one family: father, son, and grandson.
threefold talent – I learn something new every day or even every moment of every day but then I was educated to keep educating myself so thanks for that

I chose a rose that can be containerised and also can cope with some shade but has colour for my Potted Cottage garden and hence chose “England’s Rose”
England’s Rose | English Shrub Rose | David Austin Roses
p.s and thanks for the spellcheck
