It was a hot June week and having quenched a thirst at the local pub, we took a walk through ancient woodland as the sun was beginning to set. The greens were so cool but still I chose to capture the light and shadows as black and white.
Tomorrow July arrives and summer is flying by – perhaps that is the attraction of trees with their stillness and aeons embedded within.
Home to myth and legend, where folk tales began. It fuelled our ancestors and still houses thousands of species. Ancient woodland has grown and adapted with native wildlife, yet what remains only covers 2.5% of the UK…Woodland Trust.

Postscript: Coincidentally the Monday Wordle word choices matched so well I wrote an Ancient Woodland poem inspired by these trees.

The Trees have it indeed… well, actually you do! Amazing captures!
