Midsummer’s Eve

I awoke in the Midsummer not to call night, in the white and the walk of the morning:
The moon, dwindled and thinned …
This was the prized, the desirable sight, unsought, presented so easily,
Parted me leaf and leaf, divided me, eyelid and eyelid of slumber.

Moonrise – Gerald Manley Hopkins

Had to remind myself that this day, the start of summer astronomically, is midsummer meteorologically because the period of longer daytime hours starts in the spring equinox and ends with the autumn equinox, and today is in the exact middle of these two!
