I’ve never done it before. Approach strangers and ask if I might take their photos but it was such a lovely sight seeing this tight-knit family group with birds winging all around them.
As street/environmental portraiture versus street photography, it lacks spontaneity but I’m still unconvinced that the camera can justify invasiveness as art for art’s sake. We women tend to err on this side of the argument.


Besides, the consensual photo captures not just the scene but the interaction between us. I can only thank this family for their warm willingness.
