Missing the Mix

“I AM the people–the mob–the crowd–the mass.
Do you know that all the great work of the world is
done through me?
I am the workingman, the inventor, the maker of the
world’s food and clothes.
I am the audience that witnesses history…”

The Mob ~ Carl Sandburg

I’m not what’s called ‘a people person’ – certainly not en masse but with Lockdown 2 it is all those others we miss most. So I have gone to the archives of St Ives beach in the summer of 2019 for a picture of people pre-Covid 19, mixing without mask or fear of consequence. These crowds I tended to avoid and yet find myself almost missing now.

  1. It’s strange, all the seasonal residents have left making it quite quiet around here but there’s more cases of Covid-19 than ever in the area. My theory is that some of the locals relaxed when the tourists and seasonal residents left and we’re now facing the consequences.

      1. I just thought there would be a spike when the tourists and seasonal residents were here as a lot of them weren’t following the rules.

  2. I recognised that photo! I haven’t been into St Ives since February! It has been a very strange year and I can’t see myself mingling with anyone soon.
