I was entranced by these curly whirly reflections. Evidently, eddies from wind across the surface coupled with water bird movements had corkscrewed the branches and twigs poised above the lake. Adding a touch of high contrast mono and they look like ink drawings.
The angle of view could not be altered for the shot. I did try cropping out the bankside plants but it did not work. I was right to include them in the frame for anchorage. But if only I had focused more on defocusing that small intrusive branchlet which spoils the view significantly for me. Either that or I should carry a pair of secateurs!
Casting a critical eye on those photos that almost passed muster and paying attention to technicalities. One for the ‘Second Best Sunday’

This is lovely! I was staring into the water at Regent’s Park yesterday, and considering the amazing shapes (I was going to say ‘distortions’ but that sounds negative) made by the reflections of the liminal grasses.
And the little waterbirds with white heads – what are they?

Annoying little twigs! But not a lot you can do about it if you can’t change position. Lovely reflections on the water. I was looking at the pattern of my trees on the conservatory yesterday in the sun. Funny the things you notice!
now we have more light we start to see the shadows as patterns!
