The Old Mill

Besides the shrub growing out of the ancient brickwork, a passing wispy cloud above the chimney gave a momentary impression of the Laxey Woollen Mill in steam production but it was never so. Founded on the principles of John Ruskin in 1881, the mill, having been a grain mill, was water powered and cloth is still made here from Loghtan wool (a sheep native to the isle of Man) and woven on traditional style looms.
