Christchurch Priory

One of Dorset’s grand churches, It stands on the site of a Saxon minster dating from 650 AD, but dates primarily from the Norman and Perpendicular periods. The church survived the wreckings of the Reformation by being turned over to the Parish so only the monastic buildings around it were destroyed,

Perpendicular is the final phase of Gothic architecture in England, after the Early English and Decorated periods, from the late 14th until the early 16th century. As its name suggests, its chief characteristic is an emphasis on strong vertical lines ~ Britain Express
