Triolet trio

Dragon

Creature of myth, awe and danger
Salmagundi of my birth.
Swooping wingless out of water
Creature of myth, awe and danger
Mystery dreamer, swift to anger
Ties high heavens down to earth
Creature of myth, awe and danger
Salmagundi of my birth

Fly

Vertical take-off for the top
Far from sight, drift - fadeaway
Crested flyers climb non stop
Vertical take-off for the top
Lyrical larks above plump crops
Note by note intoning day
Vertical take-off for the top
Far from sight, drift - fadeaway

 Dragonfly

Dread by design that grotesque face
Medusan nymph with razored jaws
Razzle-dazzle hunter of ephemeral grace
Dread by design that grotesque face
Emblazoned on breast and carapace
Breaks the mould, bi-winged in gauze
Dread by design that grotesque face
Medusan nymph with razored jaws

Note: Triolet derives from French for ‘clover’ and references the three repetitions of the first line.

For my MTB prompt Three-Way Split we are writing a three stanza poem in a style of our choice but prompted either by one of a given tri-unity or a compound word and its derivatives. This, my first attempt at the Triolet.
