I'm still impressed -
that first kiss
an open door, your leaving
the suddenness of turning back
whirling me round
your lips pressed with passion
with permission
unspoken
we did not need it in writing
in those days, cued
to the body language
of love
Just 44 words for De’s Quadrille prompt: “Take your poetry for a whirl around the block“
**swooning**
so well spilled!
thanks De and for such a delicious prompt
Love the whirlwind of romance in this 🙂 and permission for passion is the best
thank you – in the whirlwind one has to be astute without the need for all that negotiation
I love the whirlwind of romance in your poem, Laura, and the unspoken permission is just beautiful.
thank you Kim
You’re welcome, Laura.
OOooo-laaaaa!
😘
It’s all in the interpretation, isn’t it? How beautifully said: “cued/to the body language/of love.”
Thanks Dora – relies on heart and guts
acting, cued with unspoken permission,
wonderful!
an action man knowing how and when to act – thanks Lisa
You’re welcome.
Oh, how beautifully you bring this moment to life, and catch at my heart.
Rosemary thank you for being so moved -touching hearts is what poetry aims to do
mmmm, so tender! loved. seems you got the whirl and the wow 😉 . xx, ren
that mmmm speaks volumes – thank you
Those were the days! Well done, Laura!
indeed Dwight – I can still remember them – thank you
Me too!
The body has its own language. (K)
so true and we sometimes forget to listen
Too often.
Your poem captures the excitement and passion of that first kiss. “Whirling me around.”
thank you Ali – the whirl prompt wrote itself right away into this
Oh the day of the first kiss pressed in memory on first love Wonderful
many thanks Marja – something we can all relate to even with poetic licence
“We did not need it in writing in those days” makes me consider why kids these days are more scared to fall in love. The efforts seem not to be worth it so much.
its not difficult if they read the signs but they are tangled up in the confusion of who and what the pronouns are – and all this in the binary computer age!!
Laura, that “permission / unspoken” touches something deep in me — it feels like remembering my own wordless moment of connection.
~David
that’s lovely to hear David – connections of the heart that sing through the body
