Memory Card

Today I saw your face appear
green eyes fixed on mine.
Heart-struck am I since you're long gone
sans fur, sans flesh beneath the stone,
you lie as bone. But captured by a shutter press
immortalised these last few years
within the camera's consciousness

  1. Oh Laura, a heart-breaking poem and so heart-felt. I have that with the images of my parents and a very close friend I lost that keep popping up on my screen.

  2. Ugh I still memories from 5 years ago of my beautiful kitty and it always breaks my heart! I loved the way you incorporated grief into this callous age of technology…

  3. Beautiful! As I am sure she was.

I am making sure to take many photos of my present little darling! I have too few of some who were with me in earlier days, before phone cameras.

  4. A lovely write Laura 👏

We buried one of our cats in the garden but my wife couldn’t bear to think about her beloved old ragdoll in the ground and chose for him to be cremated. We have a small bag of his bones left that we are not sure what to do with now….
