Today I saw your face appear
green eyes fixed on mine.
Heart-struck am I since you're long gone
sans fur, sans flesh beneath the stone,
you lie as bone. But captured by a shutter press
immortalised these last few years
within the camera's consciousness
Just 44 words for De’s Quadrille prompt word: Bone, In memory of my cat Moog 7/05 – 9/11/23
Ohhhh. I am so so sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful tribute.
still miss her after all this time so your prompt was perfect!
Stunning wordsmithing, Laura. Poor fur-less bones beneath the stone.
thank you for appreciating this little poem
my pleasure, Laura.
Oh Laura, a heart-breaking poem and so heart-felt. I have that with the images of my parents and a very close friend I lost that keep popping up on my screen.
yes popped up on discovering an old camera card from 2 years ago!
This is beautifully written. My precious furry companion constantly comes back on screen and I miss him all over again. ❤️
thank you – almost the last photo I took of her discovered on an old camera’s memory card
a beautiful piece to keep the memories alive.
many thanks –
Nice one
much love
Ugh I still memories from 5 years ago of my beautiful kitty and it always breaks my heart! I loved the way you incorporated grief into this callous age of technology…
I love the idea of a camera having consciousness. I believe it does. (K)
Lovely thought, “the camera’s consciousness” — where memories are fixed.
Beautiful! As I am sure she was.
I am making sure to take many photos of my present little darling! I have too few of some who were with me in earlier days, before phone cameras.
the shutter press and cameras consciousness are fantastic
A lovely write Laura 👏
We buried one of our cats in the garden but my wife couldn’t bear to think about her beloved old ragdoll in the ground and chose for him to be cremated. We have a small bag of his bones left that we are not sure what to do with now….
Love the personification of camera, Laura! Such precious memories brought back serendipitiously!
